4 Places not to store your firearm

Posted by Ladi Ammo on

In North Carolina concealment requires the weapon be about the person, which generally means it is concealed either on the person, within an arm's reach, or within ready access of the person. So, if you do not have your concealed carry handgun (CCH) permit, don't have your firearm in the following locations:

  • Glove box*
  • Center Console*
  • Under the seat*
  • In a bag in the backseat*

If you are stopped by a law enforcement officer, you have your firearm in one of the above places, and you do not have a CCH permit - your firearm will be confiscated, you will have to appear in court, and possibly pay a fine. Without a CCH permit your handgun MUST be visible or not easily accessible to you. Coming back from the range, etc. store your firearm in the trunk or the rear-most compartment of your vehicle so it is not easily accessible.
