Celebrating Four Years of Woman with a Weapon: Empowering and Educating Our Community

Posted by Ladi Ammo on

As we celebrate the fourth anniversary of Woman with a Weapon, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride, gratitude, and deep appreciation for the journey we’ve been on together. What started as a simple passion project has transformed into something far greater—a community of strong, empowered individuals, united by a shared commitment to safety, learning, and personal growth. It's hard to believe how far we’ve come, but looking back, it’s been an incredible ride, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

In these four years, we’ve had the privilege of training hundreds of women, giving them the skills and confidence to feel secure and capable in their everyday lives. Our mission has always been personal for me: to make a difference, one person at a time, fostering a culture where safety, responsibility, and empowerment are at the forefront. Watching first-time firearm handlers walk into our classes with hesitation and then leave confident and ready to protect themselves and their families has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

Our classes, from handgun safety to personal defense workshops, have created not only learning opportunities but also a supportive environment where women uplift and encourage each other. I’ve been blessed to witness so many amazing women grow—many who started as beginners have become advocates for safety in their homes and communities. It fills me with joy to know that we are making a tangible impact, and it often brings tears to my eyes when I hear stories of how these skills have changed lives for the better.

For me, this journey has never been just about teaching a skill. It’s about giving women the tools to walk through life with confidence, knowing they have the ability to protect themselves. Whether you’ve taken a concealed carry handgun course, participated in one of our self-defense workshops, or worked with me one-on-one, your trust in me and my team is something I hold dearly. Every story you share—whether it’s about newfound confidence, safety, or growth—fuels my passion even more.

I also want to take a moment to thank God for guiding me on this journey and acknowledge the incredible people who have supported Woman with a Weapon. My big brother, Hasan Harnett of Dragun Defense, has been there from the very beginning, always encouraging me and offering his wisdom. Jason Brown, my fellow instructor, has been an invaluable part of the team, providing ongoing support and trust. And a special shoutout to my amazing mom, who was my very first customer and continues to rock her WWAW gear all the way in South Dakota. Without all of you, this dream wouldn’t have become a reality. I know there are many other that I didn't mention - but know I appreciate you!

Looking ahead, I’m more excited than ever. Our commitment to growth and innovation is stronger than ever, and I can’t wait to continue developing our classes and services to meet the evolving needs of our community. Together, we’re making a lasting impact, and I know the next four years will be even better.

Thank you for trusting me and Woman with a Weapon to be part of your safety journey. Here’s to many more years of empowering YOU and making a difference— together. Check out the media gallery for pictures over the years - more will be added weekly!

With love and gratitude,
LaToya "Ladi Ammo" Workman
